My heartfelt prayers are with the entire Castater family at this incredibly difficult time. Bob, Nichole, Shawna, and Noal, your mother was truly special to me. I will never forget the years we spent in neighboring classrooms at Silver Shores, the summers teaching VPK and those fun times we had in the pool with my lab Jake and all of your "babies." Sherry was there for me during probably the most difficult time in my life. She was like a mother to me. She "snapped" me back to reality and wouldn't let me fall even when I wanted to. I could fill a whole page with wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed! If I know Sherry, she is up there in Heaven and thinking "will these people stop crying and get on with it!" I loved her and her sense of humor so much. God bless you all. Sherry will live on in my heart forever.

First, I want to let you know my prayers are with all of Sherry's family and many friends at this time of grieving.

I first met Sherry when my grandson, Christopher, started kindergarten. I remember Sherry taking him after school hours and getting him to say "Hello" to the school teachers and staff. This was before she had grandchildren of her own, and she treated Christopher as a grandson.

I'll always remember going to Albuquerque with Sherry and going up in a hot air balloon. We stayed at her sister Sandy's home along with Sherry's mother, who came from San Antonio. What a wonderful time we had, and the balloon flight was wonderful!

I must mention that Bob gladly took ut to the airport twice (the plane was delayed for first trip, so we had to return to the airport the next day, and he was there to meet us when we returned.

I could go on and on about, but I'll just say what a pleasure it has been knowing Sherry and her family.

With love and prayers, Claire

My condolences to the Castater family. Mrs. Castater was one of the most influential teachers I have had during my time as a student, and I will always have vivid and fond memories of her taking me and my siblings on adventures, being a vital part of my childhood. She will be deeply missed.

To Bob and family and Aunt Nita and girls: Was sad to hear of Sherry's passing... I have fond memories of all of us cousins when we were little. I am glad I went to the family reunion at Sherry's 2 1/2 years ago to be able to meet her whole family and get to know them better. Even though we don't see each other often, it's still sad when a family member passes. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our family is deeply saddened by the news that Mary is no longer with us physically. We smile at memories of her though as we know she is still with us spiritually. She was always so willing to share whatever she had. This included her vast knowledge and tips in the area of education, her views on life, her center ideas, her supplies and even her snacks :-). She was my colleague and friend as well as my daughter's kindergarten teacher. She gave her such a wonderful start. She still remembers the songs they would sing each day that went along with the skill they were learning. Her Kindergarten book with pictures of every important event that took place in her class during the year still remains in her memory box. That was such a special treat created by Mrs. Castater for each of the students. We pull it out every now and then and enjoy the pictures taken of her with Mrs. Castater and the rest of the class. She has left a candle glowing in each of the hearts she has touched through her teaching and by simply being Mary. She will truly be missed.

The teaching community and profession has definitely lost one of their very best. Mrs. Castater gave herself completely to her students. She brought out the exceptional talents in her children no matter what the grade level she taught. She would never quit or accept the impossible. Mrs. Castater saw through curing my child from a speech impediment problem even though completely contrary to doctors' opinion at Miami Childrens' Hospital. Her relentless effort and dedication transformed my once shy and totally introverted child to the beautifully outspoken and confident young lady that she is today and now in the 6th grade. Indeed Mrs. Castater will be walking through a much better light, but she will be soarly missed. It was a great blessing to have known and walked this life with her.

1 Corinthians 15: 50 -
" We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed." Death has been swallowed up in victory."
